What is BAWS and How is it structured?
BAWS (Berachain Animal Welfare Society) will be a legally registered nonprofit foundation based in Thailand. It combines real-world animal welfare infrastructure with blockchain-powered funding, governance, and transparency. On-chain coordination is paired with a compliant legal framework to ensure trust and accountability across both traditional and Web3 ecosystems.
How is funding managed and reported?
All funds are managed through a multisig wallet with trusted ecosystem signers. As a registered nonprofit foundation in Thailand, BAWS adheres to strict financial compliance, with all real-world spending documented and auditable. We publish quarterly reports and financial summaries, combining on-chain transaction history with off-chain expense records to ensure full transparency.
Is this sustainable long-term?
While initial funding is partner contributions, BAWS is building long-term sustainability through on-chain incentives (NFTs, DAO governance), Berachain onboarding initiatives, ecosystem grants, and IRL revenue streams such as a pet café and shop. Our goal is to create a public goods model that lives beyond grants — one that demonstrates how decentralized ecosystems can fund and maintain real impact at scale.
What does BAWS need funding for?
Funding supports the core operations of the foundation — including the shelter, clinic, mobile rescue units, medical supplies, and staffing. It also enables ongoing spay/neuter and vaccination drives across Thailand. In addition, BAWS organizes public events that combine animal welfare campaigns with Berachain onboarding, introducing new communities to the ecosystem through hands-on impact.
